8 Powerful Tips to Understand for How to be a Better
Husband
Relationships that are the most successful relationships take work, and a lot of
it. Remember that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to relationship formulas and learning how to be
a better husband.
Your relationship with your wife, and your are completely unique from your neighbors and your parents. Therefore
implementing some of these 8 great tips will not only help you to understand how to be a better husband but also
how to be a better communicator with your wife.
Tip 1: Learn to apologize when you realize that you
are in the wrong. It may well be that neither of you are in the wrong with an argument, it just takes someone to
admit that they are sorry for taking what should have been a simple issue to a whole level of frustration. Saying
“I’m sorry” may help to quickly defuse an argument.
Tip 2: Tell her
how beautiful she looks, even if she is wearing ratty sweatpants and has a bandana on top of her unwashed hair.
When a woman is complimented, she feels good about herself. One of your jobs as her husband is to make her feel
beautiful and to help continually build her self-esteem.
Tip 3: Thank her for loving you, putting up with you,
for being there when you need someone to be your pillar of support. She may try to brush it off but make sure she
knows just how much you love and appreciate her for what's she's done so far.
Tip 4: Date night is something that every married
couple should make time for. Get a sitter for the kids, or pack them off to spend the night with their
grandparents. Surprise her by taking care of all of the little details for a romantic night; take care of
childcare, make a reservation at her favorite restaurant, or order a pizza and stay home together.
With your relationship refreshed, you will be able to face the rest of your responsibilities and chaos of life
as a formidable team.
Tip 5: Supporting her interests is very important. While you may not feel up to
going browsing for fabrics or spending time at the plant nursery picking out the perfect shade of pink petunias for
the hanging baskets on the patio, if it is important to her, and she has a passion for it, you need to be a source
of support for her.
This doesn’t mean you have to necessarily go with her. It means that you can encourage and support her to follow
through on those things she feels the most passionate about
Tip 6: Pick a night or a day of the week and give her
the night and perhaps even the whole day off. Put the kids to bed on your own, take them out to the park or to a
friend’s house. She will thoroughly enjoy and appreciate her alone time, and will love that you gave her this great
gift to regroup and gather herself.
Keep in mind that it is just as important for you to get your own alone time. Also, one of the ways for how to
be a better husband is to suggest you get one night a week with the guys or spend Saturday mornings playing
golf.
Some time apart can allow you both the change to recharge your mental batteries and, of course, appreciate your
time together just that much more
Tip 7: Don’t
make her deal with your family on her own. Your parents and siblings might drive you crazy, and she knows she
married into the family; however, it is your responsibility to handle family issues.
If she does intervene, it might actually backfire and cause resentment in the relationship that she has with
your side of the family. You might be able to get valuable input from your wife but it should be you who takes the
steps to deal with family issues
Tip 8: Honesty truly is the best policy in a
successful and healthy relationship. This doesn’t mean to tell her that the red dress makes her look a bit
waist-heavy; what it does mean is to tell her that you prefer the way that the green dress accentuates her curves
and brings out the colors in her eyes.
Remember that honesty isn’t always about her wardrobe; it can be about matters relating to money and your
relationship as a whole. You may forget to take out the trash but you can never be faulted on your honesty which
will, ultimately, strengthen your relationship.
Learning how to be a better husband doesn’t involve material items or quick-fix steps that will simply be a
Band-Aid effect on your relationship.
It involves working through the very real issues you may have as a couple and simply doing things that show
effort and show that you care. Your marriage is a partnership, a partnership that can only grow in strides as you
learn more about one another.
